New power plants and tri-generation systems for Sant’Orsola University Hospital (Bologna).
New generation power plants and thermomechanical networks, built by Manutencoop, to lower consumption, costs, and pollution, implemented without disturbing hospital services.
New generation power plants and thermomechanical networks, built by Manutencoopm, to lower consumption, costs, and pollution, implemented without disturbing hospital services.
That’s the outcome of a Project Financing initiative focused on energy issues, built by Progetto ISOM (Concessionaire), Manutencoop Facility Management and Siram (EPC/O&M consortium and Sponsors), Sinloc (Financial Arranger and Sponsor)
The project started in 2012, and was completed in 2017, it includes the implementation of two brand new thermal plants, and a tri-generation system for Sant’Orsola General Hospital, in Bologna.
Concessionaire “Progetto ISOM”, which built the new facilities, is in charge of their maintenance and energy management until 2037, through the provision of a combined production of electric, thermal and cooling energies. Sant’Orsola General Hospital is built over a large area, and includes 87 operational units and has around 20,000 visitors daily.
The new production and distribution efficiency levels, together with the use of energy recovery, will lead to primary energy savings equal to the annual consumption of 3,072 household boilers.
By the end of 2016 the achieved savings of 22.4% tonne of oil equivalent and 25.2% of CO2 released in the atmosphere.
These outcomes in energy efficiency improvement stand as an important step forward to the long-term environmental benefits for both Sant’Orsola General Hospital and the whole city of Bologna.
For the first time in Italy, the project financing takes place thanks to a Project Bond issued by “Progetto ISOM” with financing provided by the European Energy Efficiency Found (EEEF).
