A fundamental teaching from the crisis
The professionalism of the men and women of Rekeep, day and night, on the front of the sanitisation of the country’s hospitals
Increase in the hospital areas to subject to deep, continuous sanitisation, the conversion and fitting out of new infectious disease wards in record times, the application of safety protocols extended to all hospital departments. The aggravation of the health care emergency caused by the spread of contagion with Covid-19 was a massive proving ground and an important stress test for the Rekeep Group, which is engaged in providing services to over 350 hospitals all over Italy. The test was passed successfully.
More than 5,000 persons were committed to providing essential services for the fight against the virus in the healthcare sector, 24/24h and 7 days out of 7:
- sanitisation and disinfection in all hospital areas, especially in the spaces devoted to intensive care, infectious disease beds and in the various Covid-19 wards and hubs set up all over Italy and in Poland, where the Group is among the leading companies providing sanitisation services in the healthcare sector;
- fitting out and starting up Covid-19 wards and Accident and Emergency triage areas, where our engineers and maintenance personnel have reactivated entire wards or constructed them anew without stopping, working uninterruptedly side by side with the Civil Protection and healthcare managements, day and night;
- washing and disinfection of uniforms and sheets with Servizi Ospedalieri, the Group company that specialises in laundering and sterilisation, called upon to handle tons of fabrics.
An unprecedented commitment in Italy
An exceptional commitment taken on in silence and with a great sense of responsibility by all our personnel, supported by a corporate “organisational machine” that has provided an efficient response in Italy to the demands of Healthcare Managements and the necessary Personal Protective Equipment always and everywhere, even at the most difficult times when facemasks and overalls were in short supply.
Rekeep continues to be present with its personnel in intensive care departments and in areas that have been converted to receive COVID-19 sufferers in the main Italian hospitals, including the Lazzaro Spallanzani National Institute for infectious diseases in Rome, the Careggi University Hospital Trust in Florence, the Bellaria Hospital in Bologna, the Polyclinic in Modena, the Sant’Anna Hospital in Como, the San Martino Polyclinic in Genoa, the National Saints Antonio and Biagio and Cesare Arrigo Hospital Trust in Alessandria, many hospitals in North-Eastern Italy, such as the Borgo Roma and Borgo Trento Hospitals in Verona, the San Bortolo Hospital in Vicenza, the Cà Foncello Hospital in Treviso, the Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento and several other facilities in Rome, Naples, Catania and Palermo.
At the Sant’Orsola Malpighi Polyclinic in Bologna, the Group helped to build a new ward for coronavirus patients in a matter of six days; similar work was done, also in Bologna, at the Maggiore Hospital and at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institutes.
In Rome, Rekeep took part in fitting out the Columbus Covid 2 Hospital built by the Gemelli Polyclinic and completed works for expanding intensive care wards at the Fatebene Fratelli Hospital.
In Lombardy, the Group carried out similar works at the Sant’Anna Hospital in Como, the West Milan Local Health Trust of Legnano and the Garda Health Trust Hospitals. Other works were carried out in hospitals in Livorno, Palermo and Frosinone.
In the Marche Region, as general contractor and executing company, Rekeep coordinated the work for the construction, in only 20 days, of the new Covid Marche Hospital in Civitanova Marche. Click here to find out more about this project.
An increasingly international effort
The Group is also in the front line in hospitals in Poland through subsidiary Rekeep Polska, the leading Polish healthcare facility management company, and in Turkey through subsidiaries EOS , which provides linen rental, laundering and sterilisation services and surgical instruments in support of medical work and Rekeep United, which provides technical and maintenance, cleaning and plant and logistics management services for the healthcare sector.
In the field supporting all essential services
Finally, Rekeep is active, and indeed has never stopped, not even during the lockdown, in various other fields providing essential services such as telecommunications, large-scale retail trade chains, banks and public transport. In all these spheres of activity, the Group has looked after hygiene, disinfection and access control and has ensured the safety of building services, applying the ministry protocols and the procedures and supplying the products necessary for the safety of personnel and users.
